Medieval Costumes

To be quite honest, even grown-ups love dressing up in medieval costumes. Being incognito for a few hours or days can be an exciting escape from the mundane everyday grind. For instance, have you ever attended a Medieval Faire and observed the populace dressed up in medieval costumes and renaissance garb? If you have, you have more than likely taken a look through the medieval costume shops there. Yes, they can be spendy! However, medieval costumes for all their beauty call for a particular attitude while wearing them.

If you're curious about the terminology that I am using, it comes from going to Medieval Faires. I say mundane, because that is what people not in medieval costumes are called. They do not use the term costume either when referring to the medieval costumes and renaissance dresses, it is called garb. It is also an interesting little factoid that half of the people that you see at medieval faires do not work for the faire, they are average, everyday people dressed up in medieval costumes and renaissance garb to celebrate and take part in the ambiance of the era.

One of the biggest reasons that so many people are attracted to medieval costumes and renaissance garb is because of their era in time. It is a time in history when radical changes were taking place. Many things wonderous, many things dark.

If you ever get a chance to attend a medieval faire, go for it! When else will you have the opportunity to truly be Queen for the day and gorgeous in your medieval costume? In fact, why relegate yourself to a general costume? Why not go as the saucy wench or the elegant medieval maid? That's the beauty of these medieval faires and medieval costumes; you can be whomever you desire.

Word of warning ladies! Before you strap on that corset remember to take a big, deep breath. It will be your last until the corset comes off. Those Renaissance ladies were not naturally small waisted, oh no. This is how even the more plump ladies were able to achieve the coveted small waist. So make your medieval costumes comfortable. After all, the point is to have fun, right?

So have fun out there!
